Elementary (K-5)KindergartenOur kindergartners’ learning is fostered in an enriched environment to provide intellectual, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. Our class size is limited to fifteen students allowing the teacher to meet and develop the unique interests of each child. Our curriculum teaches reading and math skills that prepare our students for their academic future. Music, Art, and Spanish classes are taught weekly. Kindergarten is for children who are five years old by September 1st, as stated by WAC 180-39-015. Minimum class size for morning Kindergarten is twelve students and the maximum is fifteen students. Minimum class size for afternoon Kindergarten is ten students and the maximum is fifteen students. Maximum Class Size: Each class is limited to 15 students. Class Times: Mornings (M-F, 8:45 am - 11:45 am) & Afternoons (M-F, 12:15 pm - 3:15 pm) To improve the effectiveness of our kindergarten program, beginning in the 2007-2008 school year, we increased our kindergarten class time to three hours a day. Morning kindergarten begins at 8:45 and ends at 11:45. Afternoon kindergarten begins at 12:15 and ends at 3:15. The time change allows for more time in the curriculum and lets the kindergarten classes experience opening once a week with the 1st-5th graders. Grades 1-5 Our small class size of eighteen students allows teachers to meet and develop the unique learning styles of each child. Our rigorous curriculum provides the students with a strong academic foundation in reading, math, grammar, history, science, and bible. Weekly enrichment activities include music, physical education, Spanish, and art. Our students’ reading fluency and comprehension are assessed using DIBELS and our third, fourth, sixth and seventh graders participate in the state WASL. Minimum Class Size: Minimum class size is 15* Maximum Class Size: Each class is limited to 18 students.* Class Times: Monday - Friday, 8:45 am – 3:15 pm * The average class size must not be less than fifteen students per teacher for first-sixth grade. The maximum class size is eighteen students with the option of adding a nineteenth student to help fulfill the needed average class size. We reserve the right to combine classes if enrollment is below classroom minimums. |
