Health Policy
The school requests that you call to inform us if your student is going to be absent due to sickness, vacation, or any other reason.
Our school is only prepared to care for students who arrive at school feeling well. If your student is not feeling well, he/she should not be at school. Any student who becomes ill at school will be sent home.
Stay Home or go to School Parents often ask when a student should be kept home. Here are reasons we feel are appropriate to keep a student home from school:- A fever within the last 24 hours
- A rash associated with a fever
- Earache
- A productive cough or a cough that keeps the child up at night
- A thick or colored (yellow or green) runny nose
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the past 12 hours
- Existence of a communicable disease
Students may return to school when they meet the following criteria:- Strep throat – the student has been on antibiotics for 24 hours, has no fever, and feels ok.
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye) – the student has been treated.
- Scabies and head lice – 24 hours after the treatment and there is no signs of nits.
- Please notify us if your student contracts any communicable diseases such as chicken pox, streptococcal infections, head lice, etc. This allows us to notify other families of possible exposure.
The school keeps first aid supplies ready at all times. In the case of an emergency, we will do one of the following:- Call the parent immediately.
- If the parent cannot be reached, contact the person listed by the parent as an emergency contact.
- If necessary, call 911 or take the child to the nearest hospital.
