Field Trip Driver Responsibilities
We appreciate parents volunteering to join us on field trips. Without your assistance driving and monitoring the students, we would not be able to take them on excursions. The following guidelines should be helpful.
- You are the adult responsible for the group of children assigned to you.
- Whenever walking to and from the car, assist the children. Be sure and stay together as a group.
- Ensure everyone in your car is using their seat belt properly.
- You are in authority of the conversation throughout the trip. Please redirect conversation, if it is heading in the wrong direction. Also, quiet children when they need to be listening.
- Feel free to initiate questions and discussion about the trip.
- Please remain attentive to the children at all times. It is easy to get distracted in a conversation with another adult, but we need you help in caring for the children.
- If a child in your group needs to go to the bathroom, please do not let them go alone. An adult must accompany the child or group of children.
- If there are any problems, concerns, or changes involving the children assigned to your group, please talk DIRECTLY to the classroom teacher.
