What is our Preschool philosophy?
Southside Christian School provides a warm and loving Christ-Centered environment where preschool children can have opportunities to develop physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. We Believe…Each child is a unique and special gift of God, born with a natural desire to learn about God’s world. We Believe…Each child needs to develop a sense of security and trust in his or her world. Knowing and experiencing the unconditional love of Jesus is the most effective means of developing a sense of trust. We Believe…Young children learn best through play. They acquire knowledge of God’s world through repeated hands-on experience.

We Believe…Young children develop a sense of respect for self and others through natural social interactions with children and adults. They learn positive ways for interacting with others through the example of staff and through hearing the message of God’s love for all people.
What is our education philosophy?
Southside Christian School is founded upon certain educational beliefs. Our school is based on the following statements: Each child is a unique individual, infinitely valuable because he/she is made in the image of, and valued by God.

We must allow children to learn to think, understand, and see the central truths of Christianity quite clearly. Our Christian faith need not be compartmentalized from secular subjects. It fits reality and provides intellectually defensible answers. Children must be helped to develop habits of obedience, discipline, consideration, concentration, and self-control. Children must be provided a rich, broad curriculum. There are certain ideas, incidents, and facts that every child should know. The curriculum must be carefully planned to provide the best in ideas, culture, literature, writing, math, science, and history. Children must be allowed to learn at a level and speed appropriate to the individual who is progressing at his own rate of development. High standards are expected to be met, but always at a level appropriate to the child’s ability. Children must be given opportunities and instruction to develop appreciation of and abilities in art, music, language, and physical health. We desire that the child come to understand and enjoy areas of the curriculum. This requires a process of personal involvement in learning, the use of many appropriate sources, and an opportunity for the child to demonstrate or put into practice what he/she has learned.
What electives are offered?
Kindergarten – Music and Art once a week. 1st-6th grade- Music, Art, P.E. and Spanish. 7th -9th grade- Spanish, P.E. & Keyboarding with a choice of Choir, Art, or Intro. To Theatre.
Do we offer daycare?
We do not offer daycare since we are solely equipped to operate as a school.
Does Southside Christian School require students to wear uniforms?
We do not require uniforms; however, we do have a dress code. We believe that outward appearance reflects the internal character that God is building in each student. Therefore, neatness, cleanliness, modesty, and safety are the basic guidelines of our dress code. For a detailed description of our dress code please read the guidelines listed on the Dress Code Page.
What is your average class size?
Class sizes vary from year to year depending on enrollment; however, they are limited to 18 students at the most.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Our school is not equipped or staffed to handle significant emotional or behavioral disabilities; however, we will assess each child on an individual basis.
